Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Bath & Massage Body Oil review

If there’s one thing I love more than a hot, relaxing bubble bath, it’s a back and legs massage after a hot, relaxing bubble bath. After a long day working out and about in the city, it’s heaven.

That’s why I couldn’t resist Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Bath & Massage Body Oil. It sounds like the perfect luxe pampering treat, doesn’t it?

But… is it? I’ve put it to the test to find out:

What’s In  Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Bath & Massage Body Oil?

ARGAN OIL TO MOISTURISE SKIN AND FIGHT WRINKLES

With a name like Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Bath & Massage Body Oil, you kind of think the bottle contains only argan oil, right?

Wrong. Argan oil is “only” the 5th ingredients on the list. Blame it on the price. Argan oil is so expensive, brands often add only a few drops to their products – just enough for it to work its magic a little.

What does it do? Argan oil is loaded with fatty acids, moisturisers that create a barrier on the skin that keeps moisture in. They strengthen your skin’s protective barrier and make your skin soft, smooth and supple.

Linoleic acid, one of the main fatty acids in argan oil, has anti-inflammatory properties, too. It reduces redness, soothes irritations and calms down inflamed skin.

SWEET ALMOND OIL FOR NON-GREASY MASSAGES

If argan oil is only the 5th ingredient in  Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Bath & Massage Body Oil, what tops the list?

Sweet almond oil. For a good reason, too. Its lightweight, non-greasy texture makes it the #1 oil for massages. It’s very moisturising, too.

Like argain oil, sweet almond oil creates a barrier on the skin that locks moisture in, keeping your skin hydrated for longer.

CITRUS OILS TO… IRRITATE SKIN?

Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Bath & Massage Body Oil has its good share of good oils. I’ve mentioned the main ones above, but you also get sunflower, jojoba, wheat oils and more. They’re all very moisturising.

Unfortunately, you also get a few that aren’t so good. Citrus oils like mandarin and orange make the oil smell amazing, but they can be irritating, especially if your skin’s sensitive to begin with.

Let’s be clear: just because these oils are irritating, it doesn’t mean they’ll irritate you. It depends on how sensitive your skin is and what it reacts to.

I’ve been using the oil for weeks now without experiencing any side effects. But my point is: if you know an oil or extract has the potential to be irritating for quite a few people, why use it in the first place? *shakes head*

Texture

The texture is a little greasy to the touch (it’s an oil, after all), but super lightweight and sinks in quickly into the skin.

Fragrance

Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Bath & Massage Body Oil also has patchouli and mint oils that make it smell gorgeous, but are problematic for sensitive skin.

How To Use It

You can use it in two ways:

  • Rub a small amount of oil between the palms of your hands to generate heat before massaging your skin.
  • Pour a few drops into your bathtub before a relaxing bath.

Performance & Personal Opinion

First things first: Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Bath & Massage Body Oil may be a BATH OIL but I wouldn’t pour it into your bath.

If you’ve ever washed dishes (and who hasn’t?), you know that oil and water DON’T mix. Pour the oil into the water and it’ll just sit on its surface.

Instead, I like to use it as an AFTER BATH massage oil. It leaves no greasy residue behind. Just a lovely sheen.

I warm it up between my fingers before massaging it onto my skin for a few minutes. It’s incredibly relaxing and it leaves my dry skin soft and smooth for hours. I don’t have to reapply every few hours or so. Phew!

FYI, if you find this oil isn’t moisturising enough for you and your skin still feels dry afterwards, it may just be your skin is dehydrated, not dry.

Dry skin lacks oil that seal moisture in and Dr Organic Moroccan Arga Oil Bath & Massage Body Oil has plenty of those.

Dehydrated skin doesn’t have enough moisture to begin with. You can use all the oils in the world but they won’t be able to seal anything in. If that’s your case, you’re better off with a lotion that has glycerin, urea or hyaluronic acid – the good stuff that draws moisture into your skin from the air.

And then, you can seal the moisture in with an oil. 😉

Packaging

A see-through bottle with images of nuts and massages on the packaging. It’s practical, but not the prettiest.

Does Dr Organic Moroccan Arga Oil Bath & Massage Body Oil Live Up To Its Claims?

CLAIM TRUE?
Organic Argan Oil is an exotic powerhouse of essential fatty acids (EFAs), comprising a host of skin-restoring bioactive components. A fancy way of saying it’s moisturising.
Our versatile bath and massage body oil expertly combines these valuable properties with an aromatic, sensual and spicy blend of natural and organic essential oils and extracts. This hydrating, restorative and aromatic infusion stimulates and excites the senses while replenishing the skin to leave it revitalised, beautifully soft and glowing with natural vitality. The aromatic infusion stimulates the senses, but that’s not what hydrates skin (the oils hydrate it). Aromatic infusions can irritate sensitive skin instead.
