eucerin hyaluronic filler concentrate review

How can you tell if a skincare product can really fight wrinkles?

It’s all in the details.

Case in point: Eucerin Hyaluron Filler Concentrate. The marketing copy states that it gives an “instant plumping up and an immediate visible smoothing effect.”

Visible smoothing effect. Not wrinkle reduction. There’s a difference.

Visible smoothing effect simply means the serum (or whatever it is) somehow flattens the appearance of wrinkles. But once the effect is gone, your wrinkles are there, just as deep as before.

That’s not as bad as it sounds. The real antiaging superstars take their sweet time to work. In the meantime, you want something that masks those wrinkles.

How well does Eucerin Hyaluron Filler Concentrate fare?

What’s In Eucerin Hyaluron Filler Concentrate?

SODIUM HYALURONATE

Sodium hyaluronate is a form of hyaluronic acid. It’s too big to penetrate your skin so it just sits comfortably on its surface.

Does that mean it’s useless? Nope. Sodium hyaluronate is a fantastic moisture magnet: it draws water from the environment into the skin. It’s so effective because it can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water. Plus, it works well in both high and low humidity conditions.

Translation: no matter where you live, sodium hyaluronate gives your skin a waterfall of moisture. It’s this moisture that plumps up skin so that fine lines and wrinkles look smaller. But its effects are only temporary.

GLYCERIN

Sodium hyaluronate isn’t the only moisture magnet here. Glycerin has joined the party, too.

Glycerin works just the same: it attracts water from the environment into the skin, increases its hydration, reduces water loss and strengthens the skin’s natural barrier.

It’s less powerful than sodium hyaluronate but, together, they give your skin a powerful plumping boost that makes your wrinkles look smaller for a while (and your skin feel super hydrated).

Texture

Creamy and liquid, it doesn’t feel stick or greasy.

Fragrance

Light and subtle.

How To Use It

Shake the vial before opening. Then, apply a small amount on your skin after your antioxidant serums (Vitamin C, retinol, etc) but before moisturizer. Focus more on wrinkled areas, like the lines around your mouth.

Performance & Personal Opinion

I use Eucerin Hyaluron Filler Concentrate every morning, but you can use it at night too for a double dose of plumping.

It’s super hydrating. Hyaluronic acid + glycerin make a powerful duo that adds plenty of moisture to dry skin to restore its softness and plumpness. Just make sure you apply moisturiser afterwards to seal it all in.

Oily skin? This serum gives your skin all the hydration it needs without adding more oil to it. Heck, you may not even need moisturiser afterwards (in the AM, go straight to sunscreen).

It does what it says on the tin: whatever your skin type, all this extra moisture plumps up skin, so your fine lines and wrinkles look smaller to the naked eye. Problem is, when its effects run out, they’re still there.

I wish Eucerin had added some anti-aging actives, like antioxidants or retinol, to the mix to prevent and treat wrinkles in the long run, as well.

That’s the drawback of drugstore skincare. The only way to keep the prices low is to give you only the essentials (in this case hyaluronic acid). Anything extra would make the price go up.

Who Is This For?

Anyone who wants to temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Who Is This Not For?

If you want to reduce wrinkles (not just their appearance), this isn’t for you.

Packaging

A pack of Eucerin Hyaluron Filler Concentrate contains six vials. Don’t let the small size trick you. Each vial will last you for a week.

Does Eucerin Hyaluron Filler Concentrate Live Up To Its Claims?

CLAIM TRUE?
An advanced, concentrated anti-wrinkle serum that enhances the wrinkle-plumping benefits of the Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler day and night creams for a rejuvenated look. I wouldn’t call it anti-wrinkle. It can temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles, not get rid of them. It’s very plumping – a feat that alone makes you look younger – even when you use it with non-Eucerin products.
Excellent make-up base, non-comedogenic, lightly fragranced. All true.
