calcot manor the lazy evening bath essence review

I’m very much a morning person. As soon as I get out of bed, it’s all go go go. Until evening comes. By then, my energy is really low, and I’m pretty much useless. All I want to do is sit back, close my eyes, and do nothing.

Bar relax. And do you know a better way to relax than with a hot bubbly bath? I don’t. So, I head to the bathroom, fill in the bathtub, and pour in a little of Calcot Manor The Lazy Evening Bath Essence.

Calcot Manor is a lovely little line I discovered last month. Sold exclusively at Tesco, it aims to bring a taste of the luxurious Calcot Manor hotel and spa in Cotswalds at home. Does it deliver?

What’s In Calcot Manor The Lazy Evening Bath Essence?

SURFACTANTS

Bath and shower gels work thank to surfactants, a family of ingredients that allow water to mix with oils and dirt, so they can be rinsed away.

In case you’re wondering, this one uses Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Cocamidopropyl Betaine. Despite their chemical-sounding names, they’re both considered gentle.

In fact, they hit the perfect spot: they’re powerful enough to cleanse skin but not that powerful to dry it out and irritate it.

Texture

Orange in colour, it has a thicker consistency than most bath gels, and produces a bit less foam. That means it’s gentler on the skin, by the way.

Fragrance

What made me fall in love with Calcot Manor The Lazy Evening Bath Essence is the scent. The bitter smell of orange mingles with the softer aromas of flowers, almost entirely crushing it. And, of course, the whole thing smells a bit soapy. But in a good way.

As I lay there, head slightly reclined and eyes closed, the scent transports me to an orangerie on a hot but breezy summer day. It’s so delightful and relaxing!

How To Use It

Add to warm, running water when you’re preparing your bath.

Performance & Personal Opinion

Calcot Manor The Lazy Evening Bath Essence is mainly an olfactory treat.

Sure, the gel itself does a great job at cleansing my skin, removing every trace of dirt, grime, and sweat that has accumulated onto my skin during the day.

It does it without drying out or irritating my skin. When I emerge out of the water, my skin is both clean and soft.

I just don’t want to emerge out of the water! I know, long baths are bad for skin. But the scent is so gorgeous, I do want to savour the relaxation it brings me for as long as possible.

Now, I want to visit the Calcot Manor spa, too. 🙂
