Antipodes Immortal SPF 15 Face & Body Moisturizer review

Can we just pretend I didn’t use Antipodes Immortal SPF 15 Face & Body Moisturiser before taking photos of it?

I know, beauty blogger fail. What can I say? I was just eager to give it a go.

Not that I had any hope it’d give me any sun protection. Even if you use a gallon, SPF 15 is too low – especially in this heat wave.

But hey, which girl isn’t looking for a good moisturiser she can use all over? I’m all for multitaskers that save me time and money. Did it deliver?

What’s In Antipodes Immortal SPF 15 Face & Body Moisturizer?

ZINC OXIDE TO PROVIDE SUN PROTECTION

I may not rely on Antipodes Immortal SPF 15 Face & Body Moisturiser for sun protection, but I’m glad to see it uses my fav UV filter, zinc oxide.

It’s my fave because it’s the only one that protects you from the entire UV range. Plus, it’s stabler than chemical filters (translation: it doesn’t lose its effectiveness too quickly) and super gentle. Even babies can use it.

Ok, ok, it’s a little thick and may leave a white cast behind, but those are details. Its sun protection properties are too good to pass up.

Sure, in this moisturiser it doesn’t do much. SPF 15 is too low, unless it’s the thick of winter and the sun didn’t even deign to make an appearance. But hey, that’s better than nothing, right?

SWEET ALMOND OIL TO MOISTURISE SKIN

Antipodes Immortal SPF 15 Face & Body Moisturiser contains a blend of oils, including apricot & jojoba. But sweet almond is the star of the show (it’s the highest on the ingredient list).

Sweet almond oil rocks because it absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue behind, has almost no scent of its own, and helps carry other actives into the skin.

Sweet almond oil is super moisturising. But that’s not all it does. Research shows it reduces UV-induced photoaging of the skin (translation: helps protects your skin from sun damage).

GLYCERIN TO HYDRATE SKIN

Ever wondered why pretty much all your skincare products have glycerin?

It’s a moisture magnet: it attracts water from the air and binds it to the skin, keeping it soft, plump, and hydrated.

Hydration is the foundation of a good skincare routine. Get that right and you’ll instantly look younger and healthier. Just saying…

Performance & Personal Opinion

Antipodes Immortal SPF 15 Face & Body Moisturiser is a pain to apply. It’s a lightweight cream alright, but you need to warm it between your fingers to help it dispense evenly on your skin. Call me lazy but that’s a step I’d gladly do without.

But did it moisturise my skin (cos that’s the whole point)? Kinda. Let me explain.

I love using Antipodes Immortal SPF 15 on my face. It’s light and feels like I have nothing on, but it keeps my skin soft and supple for hours. I don’t get that tight feeling halfway through the day to let me know that my skin’s feeling tight and I need to apply again.

Plus,  it doesn’t feel greasy, it doesn’t leave a white cast behind, and it does work well with foundations. I got no pilling from it.

As a face moisturiser, it gets a thumbs up. But as a body moisturiser, it totally failed.

I’m not sure it’s entirely its fault. The skin on my body is very dry. Only thick lotions and butters are a match for it. Antipodes Immortal SPF 15 is too light to moisturise such dry skin. If yours is normal or oily, you’ll have better luck with it.
