SkinDoc Formula Aqua Skin Double Hydrating Serum review

Usually, I ditch my hyaluronic acid serum in mid-March.

As the weather gets warmer, I find my skin doesn’t need the extra bout of hydration anymore.

This year’s different. As I’m typing this, it’s 7ºC outside. Freezing cold. It’s sweater weather even inside my room!

Where the heck is spring?!

Please, please, please, spring come back! We miss you sooooooo much!

But, in the meantime, there’s only one thing to do: keep using a hyaluronic acid serum. Only this time, I’ve upgraded to SkinDoc Formula Aqua Skin Double Hydrating Serum: it has TWO forms of hyaluronic acid!

What’s In SkinDoc Formula Aqua Skin Double Hydrating Serum?

HYALURONIC ACID TO DEEPLY HYDRATING SKIN

Scientists call it a humectant. I call it a moisture magnet.

Either way, it does the same thing: it attracts water from the air and binds it into the skin. It’s so powerful, it can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water!

That’s a truckload of moisture! Your skin uses it to stay soft and supple, plump up its fine lines and wrinkles so they look smaller and emanate a dewy glow.

Now, hyaluronic acid comes in different sizes. SkinDoc Formula Aqua Skin Double Hydrating Serum has two: a high molecule weight and a low molecular weight.

In plain English, a high molecular weight is so large, it stays on the surface of the skin and holds onto water there. A low molecular weight is smaller so it can penetrate skin deeper and hydrate these deeper layers of skin.

In other words, this serum hydrates your skin inside and out.

Performance & Personal Opinion

SkinDoc Formula Aqua Skin Double Hydrating Serum is as basic as can be: it has hyaluronic acid, water and little else. That’s cool with me. It means it’s safe even for the most sensitive of skin. No risk that fragrance or other fillers will irritate your skin. Phew!

I apply a pea-sized amount in the morning after my vitamin C serum. It instantly plumps up my skin so the fine lines around my eyes look a little bit smaller. It also gives me a subtle glow.

But where this serum excels is hydration. Even though the freezing weather isn’t kind to my skin, it stays soft and hydrated all day long. At no point during the day, I get that tight feeling that lets me know I need to reapply.

FYI, this is suitable for all skin types but for seriously dehydrated or sensitive skin, it’s a total skin saver.

Who Is This For?

Everyone can use it, but it’s more suitable for sensitive, dry skin.

Who Is This NOT For?

Anyone on a budget (there are much cheaper hyaluronic acid serums around).

Packaging

A white tube with a pump applicator. Sleek and practical.

Does SkinDoc Formula Aqua Skin Double Hydrating Serum Live Up To The Hype?

CLAIM TRUE?
Low molecular hyaluronic acid deeply penetrates the epidermal layer of the skin, supplementing water loss and helping restore the skin’s natural cell regenerative qualities at root level. True.
On the epidermal level, high molecular hyaluronic acid works by hydrating and healing the skin’s protective barrier. The result is a smoother surface and softer feel, giving you a more youthful complexion. It helps to reinforce the skin’s natural cell proliferation, meaning skin is protected from harmful environmental agents. True.
