Do you like insalata (salad)? I’ve never been a fan. Whenever a friend orders a salad for lunch, I can’t help but think “You know that’s a side dish, right?” Eating salad on its own just seems so… sad.
But there’s a salad that doesn’t need anything extra to make it appetizing: Insalata Nocturna, one of the many gorgeous scents by Haus of Gloi. Here’s what makes my mouth (and skin) water…
What’s In Haus Of Gloi Insalata Nocturna?
SHEA BUTTER
Shea butter is a godsend for dry skin. Derived from the nut of the Shea tree, this fat is rich in moisturising fatty acids and antioxidants.
Fatty acids are what makes it work so well: they create a protective barrier on the skin that slows down water loss. Moisture is now forced to stay into the skin, hydrating it from within.
FYI, shea butter is even more moisturising than mineral oil (what derms consider the gold standard for moisturisation). Its effects lasts for up to 8 hours, if not more!

PUMPKIN SEED OIL
Together with shea butter, pumpkin seed oil makes up the base of Haus Of Gloi Insalata Nocturna Pumpkin Butter (the name kinda gave it away, didn’t it?).
What’s so special about pumpkin seed oil? It’s not that different from shea butter. Like shea, it creates a protective barrier on the skin that keeps it soft and moisturised for hours.
Plus, it has its fair share of antioxidants to fight free radicals, the nasty molecules that give you wrinkles and dark spots. Yep, your body needs antiaging skincare, too.

Texture
It’s rich, but absorbs quickly and leaves no greasy residue behind.
Fragrance
Insalata Nocturna is a blend of green Bolivian lemon, rubbed tomato leaf, olive leaf absolute, black fig syrup and basil. It’s fresh. Crisp. Bright.
It reminds me of the vegetable garden my grannie used to keep when I was little and the many delicious homemade dishes she used to cook for us. Yummy! (Too bad you can’t eat this one).
Insalata Nocturna has just the right sillage. Not so overpowering it will offend your nose but not too subtle either.
How To Use It
Apply a small dollop as soon as you get out of the shower. A little goes a looooooooooog way.
Performance & Personal Opinion
If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know I’m obsessed with Haus Of Gloi Pumpkin Butters (my fave is Depravity).
My body is so dry all the time, especially winter. All those boiling hot showers strip even more moisture out of it – and let me tell you, it never had much to begin with.
The smallest dollop of Haus Of Gloi Insalata Nocturna Pumpkin Butter is enough to keep my dry skin soft and smooth for the entire day. Yep, that’s how moisturizing it is.
Not only I don’t have to reapply it every few hours, but my skin smells amazing afterwards! This one is a keeper.

Helena, it is!
Hahaha love the salad segue! I personally love steak salads with grilled vegetables on top of spring mix, but that’s mostly because it’s not all veggies 😉 The scent of this sounds gorgeous, I wasn’t sure what to expect with a name like that, but I NEED to sniff this stat.
Sarah, glad you loved it. That scent is really gorgeous. I must have put this body butter in my cart a dozen times and always took it out because I though the scent wouldn’t be interesting enough. So glad I got the chance to try it finally cos it’s really good!
Love the font on the packaging! But just to make sure, is this a butter for your face? Or is it a body butter. I couldn’t tell from your review.
Melissa, oops, sorry my bad! It’s for the body. 🙂
